Sarah Eden

Head of Support Operations

Following college, I was unsure as to the career path I wanted to take, but I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to continuously develop my knowledge and skills to enable me to progress up the career ladder.

I started off working as a cashier for a local building society and over the next few years I built up my knowledge of the banking industry. I worked my way up to become a mortgage adviser after obtaining my CeMAP qualifications and then advanced to the position of branch manager. I was keen to develop my knowledge and experience further within the mortgage industry, so I then went to work for a mortgage adviser firm as a paraplanner and to manage their mortgage packaging side of the business. This really helped me with gaining a deeper knowledge of the industry from the perspective of the intermediary market and of the background underwriting from the lenders. For the next couple of years I worked in similar roles for a couple of other mortgage adviser firms, however I was keen to secure a role with a company I could trust. I then saw the position of compliance officer available at Alexander Hall. Having researched the company, I submitted my CV eagerly, as the idea of working for such a highly regarded company with a strong ethos on customer service sounded perfect for me.

I started in 2010 and was amazed at how supportive and friendly everyone was. In 2011 I was promoted to senior compliance officer and really enjoyed how much I was encouraged to grow and learn within the company. In 2015 I was promoted again to compliance manager where I managed a small team of compliance officers and worked with the Director of Risk, Compliance and Technology. In 2019, I was promoted to Head of Support Operations and I manage all of the compliance and administration staff for Alexander Hall. In this role, I am able to bring greater strength and consistency to the culture of support within these important teams. At Alexander Hall we have a mindset of continual improvement and I use that mindset to develop the support framework for the advisers and the rest of the business. By getting this right, we can ensure that our clients receive the best possible experience and outcomes when using our services.

I take great pride in working for Alexander Hall and emphasising to my team the company culture of rewarding and supporting hard work. Alexander hall has continuously supported me throughout my career over the last 9 years, and I can now continue this support to the members of my team, so that they know if they work hard I will always be there to help them achieve their full potential.
