Sam Budgen

Admin manager

I joined the Nationwide Building Society on leaving school, initially working as a cashier and progressing up to Customer Service Manager. Following the birth of my child, I returned to work at Nationwide in a dedicated mortgage centre where I became a mortgage underwriter and administrator. In fact, I was the dedicated contact point for Alexander Hall and forged strong relationships with the advisers and administrators there. It was then that I realised what a great place Alexander Hall would be to work and when an opportunity came up in 2000 to join the AH team, I jumped at the chance to gain a deeper knowledge of the industry.

I started as a mortgage administrator which involved assisting the advisers and liaising with clients and the lenders and life companies. I have had a variety of roles, working my way up to firstly supervisor of the Protection admin team and then becoming manager of the Processing team in 2006. In 2008, I was promoted to Administration Manager of one of the teams which included both processors and mortgage/protection administrators.

I am now managing the entire Administration team at our West End office. Life as Administration Manager is extremely rewarding and no two days are the same. It is a role which provides great satisfaction, working closely with my team and the advisers and senior managers to ensure our clients' applications run as smoothly and as stress-free as possible from the beginning of the mortgage process right through to completion.

I'm very grateful for the opportunities I have been afforded at Alexander Hall and am excited at being able to develop and train my team to help them follow a career path at Alexander Hall.
