My background was in hospitality where I had been working my way up the ladder since taking on a part time job whilst studying at Strathclyde University. After graduating I drifted into an all too common position, whereby I had acquired a degree and ‘fallen’ into bar work, but wasn’t sure whether I wanted to continue with it as a career.
Making the move down to London in 2014 I knew that I wanted to make a change, but wasn’t entirely sure which sector to go into. I remember being drawn to mortgage advising as I saw similarities with work I that enjoyed such as working with people, teamwork and being challenged!
I initially started with Foxtons in order to gain some sales experience and understand how things work in the property world with the intention that I would complete my CeMAPs (with the support of Alexander Hall) and eventually become a Mortgage Adviser.
From day 1 at Foxtons I had set myself the objective to be fully CAS competent within 3 years…fast forward 3 years and not only was I a fully competent mortgage adviser at Alexander Hall but was being promoted to Associate Director. The fact that I came through to this position in a short space of time is wholeheartedly down to the support and resources of everyone involved with my training & development from both Foxtons and Alexander Hall. I have always had a strong work ethic and looking back the thing I felt I needed was support and direction to channel myself which has fitted perfectly with the culture.
