Gareth Clifton, Mortgage Adviser

After completing my Business and Marketing degree at Canterbury University I found myself a bit uncertain as to pursuing a career. I spent a few years as a holiday rep and in various sales roles but soon realised I had to make something more of my life.

Within days after responding to an Alexander Hall recruitment advert I was booked in for my first interview at Alexander Hall. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but when I arrived I was blown away by the energy and buzz of the City office. I knew this was definitely a company that I really wanted to work for so my enthusiasm thrived throughout the interview process and luckily I got the job!

I joined Alexander Hall in 2004 working in Park Lane as an Independent Mortgage Adviser and was thrilled when after a lot of hard work I was promoted to an Associate Director and became a member of the Alexander Hall Rare Club. In the last six years as a reward for hitting my targets I have been on numerous trips, such as skiing in Switzerland, surfing in France and quad biking in Morocco.

No working day is the same for me which I love. Dealing with different clients and scenarios keeps my mind sharp and it's great to be able to overcome situations and provide hugely competitive lending solutions. Having worked in Park Lane, Chiswick and Pinner, I now have a fantastic new challenge; managing a team of brokers in Notting Hill Gate which I find hugely rewarding passing on my experiences and knowledge to other brokers.

The career progression within Alexander Hall is uncapped and you are the key to your own success. The training department is second to none and we are provided with support and training at all levels which for new brokers is vital, plus I am still learning something new every day too! For me, the next chapter is just beginning so I need to grab the opportunity and take my career to the next level.
