Compliance Officer

Alexander Hall, one of Londonâ€™s leading mortgage brokers, has an opportunity for a professional and highly organised Compliance Officer to join our busy City headquarters. The Compliance team is central to Alexander Hallâ€™s strict codes of practice and as such you will work closely with a large team of Mortgage Advisers who search the entire market to find the best mortgage deals and rates for our clients in addition to providing completely independent advice.

Your main responsibility will be to monitor all files to ensure that they are compliant with internal procedures as well as regulations introduced by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). You will highlight and correct any potential problems with individual Mortgage Advisers as well as handle any complaints received from our clients regarding advice given. Each case will be investigated to ensure that the Mortgage Adviser acted correctly on the information provided and responded to the client in a professional and accurate manner.

Through our service and innovation we have helped shape the UK mortgage industry and the way it operates. Successful Compliance Officers play a vital role in training the Mortgage Advisers to ensure that Alexander Hall offers the best possible service to our clients in line with correct regulation.

Skills:

Experience of a compliance role is advantageous but not essential as training can be provided
Experience of working within the mortgage industry, preferably within in a brokerage environment.
You must be fully CeMap qualified
FPC qualifications are advantageous
Excellent attention to detail
Good people skills in order to encourage best practice within the sales team

We do not charge a fee for residential mortgage advice. We charge an administrative fee for processing each of your mortgage contracts; our fees only apply when you decide to go ahead with an application.

Standard residential mortgages
For standard residential mortgage contracts the typical fee is £499, payable on application. Alternatively, you may pay a fee of 1% of the mortgage loan, payable on application, and any commission received from the lender will be returned to you after completion.

Buy-to-let mortgages
For buy-to-let mortgages a typical fee of 0.5% of the mortgage loan size applies of which £500 is payable on application with the balance payable on completion.

Offshore and commercial mortgages
For offshore and commercial mortgages a typical fee of 1% of the mortgage loan size applies of which £500 is payable on application with the balance payable on completion.

Impaired credit lending
For impaired credit lending the typical fee is 1% of the mortgage loan, payable on application. Alternatively, you may pay a fee of 3.5% of the mortgage loan, payable on completion, and any commission received from the lender will be returned to you after completion.
